AC unveils T6 single-cab bakkie

JAC Motors adds the T6 2.0 CTi single-cab to its range, offering strong diesel performance, long range and value-focused pricing.

JAC Motors has expanded its local line-up with the launch of the T6 2.0L CTi single-cab bakkie, a robust one-tonne workhorse designed to meet the demands of transport operators and entrepreneurs.

The newcomer arrives in two well-equipped versions, Comfort and Lux, both engineered to balance practicality with comfort.

Powering the T6 is JAC’s familiar 2-litre turbodiesel engine, already proven in the T8 range since 2023. Delivering 102kW and 320Nm of torque, the unit is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, ensuring torque is readily available across the powerband.

With claimed average fuel consumption of 6.9L/100km and a 76-litre tank, the bakkie offers a range exceeding 1 100 kilometres, making it a strong contender for long-haul duties.

The suspension set-up combines a double-wishbone independent front with coil springs and a rear leaf-spring arrangement, enhancing handling and reducing body roll while maintaining comfort, particularly when carrying loads.

Built on a galvanised ladder-frame chassis with integral rear bridge support, the T6 measures 5 315mm in length, 1 830mm in width, and 1 815mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3 090mm. Ground clearance stands at 197mm, complemented by a 6.2-metre turning radius and a payload capacity of 1 000kg.

Standard features include power steering, air-conditioning, electric windows, and a leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel. Safety is addressed with dual airbags, ABS, EBD, and a combination of front disc and rear drum brakes.

Additional equipment comprises electrically adjustable mirrors with indicators, rear fog lamps, headlight levelling, and park distance sensors. The Lux derivative adds a reverse camera, leatherette trim, and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, while the Comfort version offers a radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth.

Priced at R299 900 for the Comfort and R314 900 for the Lux, the T6 single-cab is set to be joined mid-year by 4x4 derivatives, broadening its appeal to buyers requiring off-road capability.
