The integration between Japanese truck and bus manufacturers Hino Motors and Mitsubishi Fuso has taken a major step forward with the announcement of their new joint holding company, Archion. Based in Tokyo, Archion is set to begin operations on 1 April 2026, marking a significant milestone for both brands.
Although Hino and Fuso will continue to operate as independent entities, their collaboration under Archion aims to “deliver the future of commercial mobility”. The focus will be on developing sustainable transport solutions that meet evolving customer needs while leveraging each company’s strengths in research, development, production and logistics.
Among the most promising synergies identified is an “Integrated Platform Strategy”, designed to drive product improvement, expand portfolios and enhance investment efficiency. Consolidation of production in Japan into three main facilities is planned by the end of 2028, improving operational efficiency and reducing complexity.
Karl Deppen, currently President and CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso and the designated CEO of Archion, said: “We are now taking the next step to bring our shared vision to life: With Archion, we aim to ‘deliver the future of commercial mobility’ for the benefit of our customers and all stakeholders. With the strong Fuso and Hino brands, we will provide superior products and solutions to meet the needs of all our customers.”

Hetal Laligi, the future CFO of Archion, added: “Our financial ambition for the new Group is rooted in a clear strategy: Unlocking the full potential of this integration by realising synergies and growth opportunities, while continuously working to improve the standalone performance of both companies.”
Satoshi Ogiso, the designated Chief Technology Officer of Archion and current CEO of Hino Motors, emphasised customer focus: “First and foremost, we are committed to putting our customers at the centre of everything we do.”
Locally, Hino South Africa will continue operating independently. Vice President Anton Falck said: “Our focus will be on retaining and building on our leadership in the Southern African market in terms of customer satisfaction, as demonstrated by our repeated No 1 position in the quarterly Datatrack survey.”
