LDV’s arrival in South Africa in 2024 marked the beginning of a new chapter for the brand, and now its future direction is being shaped by Gerhard Moolman, who stepped into the role of CEO on 1 March.
With more than two decades of automotive experience, much of it in the luxury segment, he has built a reputation for transforming underperforming dealerships into award-winning operations. His track record of motivating teams and delivering results sets the tone for LDV’s next phase.
Gerhard’s immediate focus is on strengthening the dealer network. LDV currently operates 17 dealerships nationwide, with more set to open soon. He stresses that expansion must be sustainable, ensuring dealers remain profitable rather than chasing rapid growth.
For him, strong dealer relationships are the foundation of long-term success, and upcoming product launches will not distract from consolidating trust and confidence within the network.

The brand’s line-up already spans commercial panel vans, double-cab bakkies, and family SUVs, with the D90 seven-seater and Terron 9 off-road model broadening its appeal. Gerhard sees this diversity as a strength, enabling LDV to serve farmers, construction professionals, executives, and families alike.
Beyond sales, LDV is investing in aftersales support, with a new Parts Distribution Hub and Technical Training Centre in Gauteng to improve service standards and parts availability.
Balancing growth with stability is the challenge ahead, but Gerhard’s dealer-centric strategy is clear. By prioritising profitability, customer confidence, and consistent support, he aims to embed LDV firmly in South Africa’s competitive automotive market. The brand’s success will depend less on marketing campaigns than on the strength of its dealer partnerships and the reliability of its service.
