Renault Expands Compact Van Offering with Triber Express III

Renault SA launches Triber Express III, a compact light commercial van with 1,500L load space, 542kg payload and modern tech for urban fleets.

Renault South Africa has introduced the Triber Express III, the third generation of its light commercial vehicle derived from the passenger Triber platform.

Designed for small businesses, urban delivery operators and fleet users, it offers a practical solution for those who need a capable load carrier without the bulk of a traditional panel van.

The model sits neatly between car-derived vans and larger commercial vehicles, providing a 1 500-litre load area and a payload capacity of 542 kg. Rear side doors make loading and unloading easier in confined urban environments, enhancing its appeal for city use.

The cargo area is fitted with a locally produced internal storage cage as standard, ensuring straightforward organisation. Inside the cab, Renault has equipped the van with a dual-tone interior, an 8-inch floating touchscreen supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Comfort and convenience are addressed with air conditioning, electric power steering and a reversing camera. Safety is not overlooked, with dual front airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution and a reinforced safety cell included in the specification.

Externally, the Triber Express III retains SUV-inspired styling cues from its passenger car origins. It features 182 mm of ground clearance, skid plates and projector headlamps, while roof rails are standard. For added practicality, an optional locally manufactured roof rack system is available, increasing carrying capacity above the roofline without altering the van’s footprint.

Power is provided by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 53 kW and 96 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Pricing is competitive, with the standard model listed at R249 999 and the roof rack version at R261 999.

By adapting its passenger platform for commercial use, Renault has created a compact van that blends affordability, practicality and modern features, strengthening its position in South Africa’s light commercial segment.
